Sam and Karl met at their local game store in Glen Ellyn, IL in 2015. While they both shared a fondness for Magic: The Gathering, and played frequently together, it wasn’t until they both played in a game of Pathfinder that their friendship really took off. They shared a love for role-playing, and spent countless hours exploring new and fantastical worlds together. Then life got in the way. Karl moved to New Mexico in 2018, but they both found a way to continue enjoying their favorite games together. Then one fateful day in early 2019, Karl asked say a simple question. “Will you help me adapt [this large and well known role-playing game] to fit within the Victorian era. The question that Sam asked back changed both of their outlooks. “Why don’t you just make your own game?” And so they did. There have been rule changes, rewrites, and complete disasters along the way, but neither Karl nor Sam ever gave up hope that one day their dream would become reality.

 

They founded TPK Games in 2021 with the core principle that great stories build great friendships, and that everyone should have access to those stories. Built on the two principles that all games should be inclusive, and that all people deserve love, respect, and kindness, TPK Games is dedicated to designing and publishing games for everyone, regardless of ethnicity, religion, or sexual orientation. After all, everyone deserves a great story. And the story is only the beginning.
